Tom Mohan’s side will meet the Norwegians tomorrow then face Portugal on Sunday and Slovakia on Tuesday. All of the fixtures are at the La Manga centre in Murcia with a noon Irish-time kick-off.

“All has gone well so far," said Mohan. "We trained in Dublin this week then the squad travelled yesterday and we were able to have a light session then today we trained again to prepare for tomorrow's game."

Birmingham City's Corey O’Keeffe has been recalled to link up with Gianfranco Zola's first team squad and is replaced by Southampton's Thomas O’Connor.

"Although we've a strong squad here we also have a number of players missing and that's opened the door for others to impress," said Mohan.

"We’re looking forward to working with the lads again for first time since October when we secured our qualification for the Elite Phase.

“We’ve worked on as much as we could from both attacking and defensive point of view in the short time we’ve had them this week. You want to get performances and if we can get results too that's great for confidence.

“The Elite Phase is the main focus and the players are well aware of that. It’s an important week. All three teams here have qualified for the Elite Phase so they'll be good tests and good opportunities for players to show they can play a part in the Elite Phase. "
