Ian is a former Head of Content with Independent News and Media (INM), and has worked across a number of key editorial executive roles with the group over a 17 year career.
He has been at the centre of transformational change at INM in recent years, where he helped implement the group’s digital strategies and assisted in the ongoing success of its legacy brands.
His role with the FAI will see Ian lead the communications strategy and implement a roadmap for the association’s vision, from grassroots football up to the international teams.
FAI CEO John Delaney said today that the new Director of Communications role was a key position within the association.
“I’m delighted to welcome Ian on board and he will immediately become an important member of the executive team,” said Mr Delaney.
“The FAI is excited by this key appointment, and we look forward to working with him.”
Ian Mallon will start his new role with the FAI on September 28
