Martin O'Neill's team are focused on collecting the three points on offer to improve their standing in Group D, where they currently sit in fourth place after six games played.
Following three days training at the new FAI National Training Centre, Ireland travelled to Portugal on Thursday and training at the Estadio Algarve with the full compliment of 23 players.
The entire squad trained on the eve of the game, so O'Neill has a full selection of players to choose from for what he is viewing as a difficult game against Gibraltar.
“We’ve watched them, the last game that they played against Germany, and I thought that they played very well indeed,” said O'Neill. “They should really have equalised after half an hour in the game but they caused Germany some problems.
“In the second half, Germany got a whole host of goals but as a counter-attacking side rather than anything else. So Gibraltar have improved since the start of the competition.
“There is absolutely no question of that. But we are approaching the game in the manner that we should do. We have to find ways to break them down and we have to make sure that we are defensively as strong as possible.”
Ireland will travel back to Dublin immediately after the match to begin preparations for Monday's qualifying game against Georgia at the Aviva Stadium, but they are fully focused on overcoming Gibraltar first.
