The squad warmed up for tomorrow’s clash with a 4-1 victory over Qatar’s Under 23 squad last Friday night in a game which saw Harry Charsley, Reece Grego-Cox and Josh Cullen all making their U21 debuts.
A 31st minute strike from Ipswich Town’s Dylan Connolly was enough to separate these two sides when they met at the RSC in Waterford back in March. The Republic of Ireland currently lie second in Group 2 behind Slovenia and manager Noel King will be looking for another positive result ahead of October’s Under 21 Championship qualifiers against Lithuania and Italy.
With no injury concerns to report Assistant Manager Harry McCue is pleased with how preparations have gone for this game. “We’ve been together for a week now and are happy with our preparation. We had a pleasing victory over Qatar last Friday night and trained here in Andorra yesterday and again this evening," said McCue.
“Having played Andorra at home back in March we are well aware that they are a side that can defend well and we have no doubt that they will try to make things difficult for us tomorrow. We watched them play Lithuania recently and once again they looked a very resilient side. That said, we will be aiming to get the job done tomorrow and leave here with the three points.”
