The Award recognises the contributions made by volunteers at all levels of football to the continued success and development of our game.
Mr. Morgan was presented with the award on Saturday night at Arklow Town's 70th Anniversary Gala, by FAI Chief Executive John Delaney.
The 83-year-old have been involved in the County Wicklow club in one form or another for over six decades. He began his career with the then-named Arklow United as a player, before taking up roles as a Manager and Club Administator.
Described by colleagues as "the biggest single influence on the fortunes of Arklow Town for over 60 years", Morgan was shocked to receive the award onfront of his family and friends on Saturday evening. He later described it as one of the best nights of his life.
Morgan's role in football in Wicklow was honoured in 2013, when the Wicklow Football League presented him with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his service to football in the county.
Speaking after presenting Michael Morgan with his award, John Delaney said; “The John Sherlock Service to Football award is the highest accolade the FAI can bestow to grassroots volunteers around the country. Michael has spent over 60 years involved in Arklow Town in one way or another. The club’s ground in Lamberton is a testament to the work Michael has put in over the years.
"On behalf of the FAI, I was delighted to travel to Wicklow to surprise Michael and present him with his well deserved award.”
