The FAI Delegation started the day by visiting Buttevant SC, where Ireland WNT international Roma McLaughlin and former international Stephen Hunt played Powerchair Football with members of the Heroes Powerchair team.
At Kanturk AFC, a large crowd provided a warm welcome where ex-international defender Richard Dunne proved to be a big hit, especially with the club's Under-17 and U-13 sides who were presented with league winner's medals.
Next was a stop at Mallow Town FC, where their application for a new set of goalposts was approved and that will enable the club to move forward with future plans for expansion and development.
It was a short skip across town to Mallow United, where a host of Special Olympics players - including the Kerry Stars team - took part in exhibition games under the guidance of FAI Football For All Development Officer Nick Harrison.
The bus rolled on to Park United and in spite of the heavy rain there was a heartwarming tribute made to Kieran Colgan, who tragically passed away and now has a memorial Cup named after him. The club were also assisted with plans for future development.
Last, but not least, Ringmahon Rangers AFC received the final visit of the day and Terry Cummins was honoured for his 40-year service with the club, while plans for upgrading of facilities were revealed.
Each club received specific grants, as well as match tickets for kids to attend a Republic of Ireland MNT game at Aviva Stadium, FAI National Draw tickets, and a commitment to continue aiding their plans for future development.
The Festival of Football continues on Monday with six more club visits, a Fun Day at Fermoy AFC from 14:00, and the first of three Player Development Plan workshops - delivered by FAI High Performance Director Ruud Dokter - will kick off at Springfield Ramblers from 18:30.
