Under the tutelage of FAI Football for All Development Officer Nick Harrison, the seven Development Officers were trained in how to train visually impaired players in mainstream schools.

The training session is part of a strategic plan between Vision Impaired Football Ireland and the FAI Football for All programme to grow the game around the country. Through contacts in the visiting teacher network, FAI Development Officers can now deliver VI Football in schools to a class of students in which a particular student has a vision impairment.

Those children can then link in with one of the two existing regional centres in Cork and Dublin and there will also be provision to open new Training Centres in conjunction with FAI-led ‘Come and Try Days’ around the country.

Next week, all Development Officers in Munster will receive the training, as VI Football continues to grow around the country.
