Ireland's Regions' Cup team eliminated by Slovakia

 Captain Brendan O’ Connell dealt with a long range shot on 15 minutes which saw when pick up a slight knock and two minutes later he tore his hamstring when attempting to clear the ball and was replaced by Mark Power.   

Ireland opened the scoring in the 31st-minute through Simon Falvey when Eoin Hayes broke on the left and put through Falvey who finished brialliantly from an acute angle.

 

Slovakia started the second-half looking to test the Irish defence and in the 51st they equalized through Martinko after the Irish defence failed to clear their lines. Slovakia continued to take the game to Ireland but in the 54th-minute Cisar was sent off for a high challenge on Simon Falvey who had to leave the field of play with concussion.

 

The game continued to open with with both teams having chances with Ireland dangerous on the break but unable to get the all important goal. 

 

Peter Doherty from Cockhill Celtic made history when he became the first player from Ulster to appear in the UEFA Regions Cup.
