The main objectives of this conference are to show thanks and appreciation to our grassroots stakeholders, and also to provide a forum for discussion to progress some partnership programmes and initiatives on current issues within sport, such as mental health and the National Physical Activity Plan.  We are delighted to have two Ministers to deliver keynote addresses.  The Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring and also the Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar.

The FAI has developed a wide array of partnerships with local and national bodies, using football as a medium through which important social issues can be tackled.  The agenda of this year’s conference has been informed by stakeholders indicating the issues that are important to them.

The one day conference will be held in Lansdowne RFC beside the AVIVA Stadium on October 8.   Key presentations in the morning will highlight Women’s football development and a discussion on the use of sport to assist with positive mental health.  The afternoon will include the implementation of the National Physical Activity Plan, the FAI Player Development Plan and a session on partnership social media.

The conference participants will include the Irish Sports Council, Local Authority Chief Executives, Directors of Services and key contacts, Government Departments including, Sport, Health, Children and Youth Affairs, Justice, Social Protection, Third level and education institutions and many other partners.
