EURO 2020

To celebrate Dublin’s hosting of the UEFA EURO 2020 Qualifying Draw on December 2, 2018, the Football Association of Ireland and Dublin City Council have launched the Street Legends Community Football events.

The Street Legends Community Football Events will take place on Wednesday, November 28 and Thursday, November 29 from 5pm to 8pm, and on Saturday, December 1 from 3pm to 6pm.

The events will kick off on Little Britain Street on the Wednesday, followed by Mountjoy Square South on the Thursday, and then on Commons Street on the Saturday afternoon. Each event is free to attend and open to all ages and abilities. Participants will be able to test their skills against a wide range of football challenges. Irish and international football legends will also be in attendance to see what Dublin’s Street Legends have on offer.

Lord Mayor Nial Ring said: "Dublin City Council is proud to support the Street Legends in Dublin’s North Inner City, my local community, and I for one cannot wait to show off my footballing skills! Street football is at the heart of any community and the North Inner City will host this interesting concept in style."

Also added to the excitement of the week building up to the Qualifying Draw is the opening of the National Football Exhibition on Sunday, December 2, at the Printworks, Dublin Castle. The interactive Exhibition - which will remain open until December 9 - celebrates 60 years of the UEFA European Championships and Irish football and will be home to a range of iconic items celebrating Ireland’s rich football history.

Six separate zones, are designed to give attendees an overview of the history of football in Ireland and the impact it has had, and continues to have, on communities around the country. Each zone is packed with memorabilia, interactive features, videos, quizzes and the opportunity for visitors to record their own commentary for some of Ireland’s greatest goals.

Throughout 2019 and 2020 the National Football Exhibition will tour seven different locations around the country, including Sligo (February 2019), Cork (March 2019), Limerick (June 2019), Waterford (August 2019), Donegal (September 2019), Louth (February 2020) and Galway (March 2020), before returning to Dublin in time for the UEFA EURO 2020 kick-off.

The National Football Exhibition App can now be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play Store.

The draw for the UEFA EURO 2020 qualifying groups on December 2, 2018 will be attended by delegates from all 55 UEFA member nations and over 350 international media representatives with an estimated TV audience worldwide of 140 million.

Four tournament games will be hosted at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium during UEFA EURO 2020, the largest sporting event to ever be hosted in the country.
