There are three games in-store today and two tomorrow as part of seven divisions that are up to be decided in the next few weeks.

The standout game of this week is the Women’s Premier Division Final which is set to take place in Athlone Town stadium on Wednesday evening.

The current champions IT Carlow are looking to defend their crown and complete the first leg of an unprecedented back-to-back league, cup and futsal treble. Standing in their way are the two-time champions Maynooth University. Maynooth last tasted success in 2017 when they defeated IT Sligo in Athlone IT with now-alumni student and WNT International Amber Barrett a key component of that 4-1 win.

Both sides possess a wealth of Women’s National League experience with both sides enjoying positive relationships with last year’s FAI Women’s Senior Cup Finalists, Peamount United and Wexford Youths, with Peamount boss James O’Callaghan also overseeing the Kildare side.

The remaining four finals will take place in the FAI National Training Centre in Abbotstown. The first game on Tuesday, the Men’s Division Four Final,  will see DCU’s Fresher’s team led by Tony Cousins take on Dundalk’s O’Fiaich Institute of FE who are managed by Barry McCourt, who has had plenty of experience with FAI School’s International teams and was recognised at their 50th Anniversary last Saturday.

Maynooth University are represented in three of the seven finals and their Freshers team will take on the free scoring IADT Dun Laoghaire in the Men’s Division Three Final on Tuesday evening. The University’s football programme, led by ex-St. Patrick’s Athletic player Barry Prenderville, has been hugely complemented by the team success this campaign. Their second team will take to the field on Wednesday afternoon against another high-flying team in Ulster University who will be relishing the opportunity to achieve promotion to Division One.

The remaining game of the week will see Trinity College Dublin and GMIT Galway compete for Women’s Division One honours on Tuesday afternoon.
