The Football Association of Ireland are rolling out an initiative that will encourage schools in Dublin, Longford, Waterford and Wicklow to 'adopt a nation' once the Final Draw is made on April 4 and each team knows where they will be playing.
School kids will be able to learn all about different countries, get creative with artwork, learn new songs, and bring plenty of colour and atmosphere to the games where their 'adopted nation' will be playing. It will also help to provide that Irish welcome to all 16 teams competing in the tournament.
Letters will be sent out to specific schools with details of how they can avail of free bus transfers, ticket giveaways, and exclusive competitions ahead of the games kicking off on May 5.
There will also be a tour arranged to those schools where the tournament mascot, Barry The Bodhran, will visit along with the official trophy. So there will be plenty of opportunities for the school kids to be inspired ahead of adopting their team.
For schools who want to get behind the Boys In Green, it has been confirmed that Colin O'Brien's Ireland team will play one game in the Regional Sports Centre in Waterford and two in Tallaght Stadium in Dublin.
