
The draw, which was performed by former Republic of Ireland international Keith Fahey and FAI Vice President Noel Fitzroy, was performed at FAI HQ, with representatives from the clubs in attendance.
Fahey was part of the St. Patrick's Athletic side which lifted the trophy in 2014 and also played for Bluebell United in the FAI Cup in 2017, in victories over Sheriff YC and Cabinteely.
20 clubs were in the qualifying round draw, 16 intermediate clubs and four junior clubs; Ashling Annacotty, Glengad United, Regional United and St. Michael’s. Four teams, Cobh Wanderers, Crumlin United, Letterkenny Rovers and Killester Donnycarney, received a bye into the first round of the competition.
