2018 tournament review
- Hosts Ireland are joined by the sides that emerge from March's elite round
- Belgium beat Ireland 2-0 in their group in last season's finals; both went through
- The Netherlands beat hosts England on penalties in the 2018 semi-finals to avange their loss in the 2014 final; Sweden also got past the 2018 group stage
- Portugal were in the same group as Hungary and Iceland at UEFA EURO 2016 and finished third before winning the trophy
- Spain beat Germany 5-1 in their last group game in 2018 to make the last eight
- The tournament will also decide Europe's five contenders for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil later in the year; England are the defending champions from 2017
