1994 UEFA European Under-16 Championships
For the first time, Ireland were selected as hosts for a UEFA tournament. The late Dr. Tony O'Neill was the tournament director.
The venues for the games were Bishopstown Stadium, St Colman's Park, Turner's Cross (Cork), United Park (Drogheda), Oriel Park (Dundalk), Belfield Park, Dalymount Park, Frank Cooke Park, RDS, Richmond Park, Tolka Park, Whitehall Stadium (Dublin), Cooke Park (Tipperary).
For the second year in a row, Ireland faced both Czechslovakia and England in the group stages - failing to beat them on either occasion - while Portugal also made up Group B.
With Turlough O'Connor leading the Ireland squad, they had high hopes but it didn't go exactly to plan even with some really talented players involved.
Turkey would eventually lift the trophy after they defeated Portugal 1-0 in the RDS.
