The game, which kicked-off at 12noon Irish time in Pratelstvi Stadium in the Czech Republic, ended in a 4-0 win for the USA side.
Irish squad manager Sue Ronan made five changes to the squad that started Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Belgium in the first game of the friendly tournament.
As with that fixture, all 20 players in the squad took part in the game, in line with the rules of the tournament.
Speaking after the game, Ronan explained that the USA have an extremely strong side, with a lot of quality players.
She said: “They are a very good side, they are powerful, strong, fit – everything you are looking for in a squad. It also took us a while to get into the game, there was an element of fatigue in our side from the first match.
“We just didn’t weather the storm properly the way we did against Belgium. But the players aren’t used to these sorts of situations, that’s the main aim of this tournament and they will be learning all the time.”
And Ronan added that there were encouraging signs for the young Irish side.
“There were positives for us, they dug deep and never gave up. The possession stats were positive for us, they were about 50 to 40 per cent. We now have the Czech Republic on Saturday and we’ll be looking forward to that game,” explained Ronan.
