The 24-year-old from Cork has been released by manager Mick McCarthy after picking up a calf injury in training.
The decision was taken following a scan in Portugal where the Irish team are currently training at The Campus at Quinta Do Lago.
Browne will begin his recovery programme in camp and will fly home from the Algarve with the Irish squad on Tuesday.
“Alan has been very unlucky with injuries this season,” said McCarthy. “An ankle injury kept him out of the two games in March and now this calf problem has ruled him out of the matches against Gibraltar and Denmark.”
McCarthy has confirmed to FAI.ie that he has no plans to add to his squad after the injury blow to the Preston North End midfielder.
