Having overcome Ukraine 3-0 last Thursday, Dave Bell's team wanted to keep their momentum going and they did just that with a thrilling victory in Izmir to move to the top of Group 1.

First-half goals from Lauren Kelly and Heather Payne put Ireland in control before they began to dominate with Payne netting a second, while Lauren Homan, Saoirse Noonan, Tiegan Ruddy, and Leah Reybet-Degat were also on target.

"It was a very good win. We were disappointed to pick up three bookings, but we thoroughly deserved to win and it was another very good performance by the girls," said Bell.

"We've done what we had to do and win our two games so far. As well as scoring 10 goals, we haven't conceded yet either and that's very important because as good as we have been attacking we have also been very good defensively.

"It was always my intention to give as many girls a chance to play in the games and we managed to do that against Andorra. But we won't relax and think that everything is okay now because we have a big game against Turkey on Tuesday.

"We came here to top the group and that is what we want to do. We've had two very good wins and performances, but Turkey will be a really difficult game and we have to prepare for that."

The final Qualifying Round game against Turkey on Tuesday, October 20 (KO 13:30Irish Time) will be a tight affair because top spot in Group 1 is still up for grabs as both Turkey and Ukraine sit on three points behind Ireland.

Bell won't be taking anything for granted despite his team's excellent start to qualifying. He will simply be asking for a similar effort on top of fine-tuning certain aspects of their game-plan.

Still, he is full of praise for how his players have performed in difficult conditions and the win over Andorra means they can be confident going into their final game against Turkey.
