It was confirmed on Saturday evening that Pauw has moved quickly to build her staff ahead of the up-coming UEFA Women's Euro 2021 qualifier on 8 October.

Pauw has appointed Gleeson as her assistant, while Jan Willem Ede has taken up the position of goalkeeping coach.

Former Peamount United and UCD Waves manager, Gleeson will bring extensive experience and knowledge to the role, said Pauw.

“We are extremely pleased that we could add the most experienced coach at club level in the women’s game in Ireland to our staff. We both feel we connect well and I am looking forward to us working together.

“Eileen fully deserves this position after all her investments, including being one of the two females in the country with the Pro-Licence and working in the women’s game for a long time.”

New goalkeeping coach Jan Willem Ede also brings vast experience to the Ireland set-up, having coached for over 11 years, including with the Dutch Olympic men’s team and the women’s national team.

And Pauw said it is vital that she has the best people around her from the off-set as there are hugely important games coming thick and fast.

She added: “I am also delighted to have Jan Willem in the team. He is very experienced and under the circumstances where we have to play crucial games immediately, it is important to have a person with his knowledge of the women’s game.

“He is an A-licensed coach and he always challenges and pushes me when we work together. He knows how I work. His task will be broader than goalkeeping coach. He will also make a contribution to scouting opponents and identifying game strategies.”

Following Ireland’s opening game victory over Montenegro, tickets for the UEFA Women's Euro 2021 qualifier against the Ukraine on 8 October at Tallaght Stadium will be launched this week.
