By scoring for Aston Villa against Norwich City, to open his Premier League account, he became the second Irish player (following Kevin Kilbane) to score in England's top four tiers, and for Ireland.
Speaking to FAI TV, ahead of the UEFA EURO 2020 Qualifiers against Georgia and Switzerland, the Bandon star is looking forward to the trips to Tbilisi and Geneva.
"We've two big games coming up, starting with Georgia at the weekend. I'm really looking forward to a good week's training and we'll go into the games hoping to get good results."
Having nailed his place in the Villa midfield, Hourihane comes into the camp with plenty of game time, and he was delighted to see some international teammates, impressing at club level.
"It's a big positive coming into this trip. Maybe in the last camp, some of the lads weren't in the teams regularly, but that's changed in the last month or so that's great too."
An unused substitute in the 1-1 draw against Georgia in Tbilisi in 2017, Conor knows what awaits in the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.
"We know's it going to be a tough game. When Denmark went [to Tbilisi] they got a 0-0 draw, it shows how tough it is to go there. Over the years it hasn't been easy for us to go there. It'll be a tough game but one we're ready for."
Injuries and suspensions mean Ireland will need to play a changed side from the one that drew with Switzerland. Hourihane wants to see the players called in, taking their opportunities.
"Opportinities always come around, and the lads now need to take them. If a couple of lads come into the squad, so be it, but if they dont, we need to get ready for Saturday, and we're really looking forward to it."
Having scored last weekend, and against Georgia in March, the midfielder is hungry for more goals.
"It's definately something I want to do over the next couple of games. Going in with a little bit of confidence, you wouldn't mind missing one... It would be great to get another one [against Georgia], but we'll take any goal. Whoever scores, that'll be great."
