The FAI Youth Council will be run by and for young leaders involved in football at all levels and will ensure football is relevant for current and future generations of Irish communities.
Among the key responsibilities of the Youth Council, is to investigate relevant topics, report to the FAI National Council and play an advisory role to each department. The body will also advise, inform and challenge FAI policies and practices on various issues effecting the future of football.
The creation of an FAI Youth Council will be supported by UEFA and is aligned with their supports to assist Football Federations of the Future. The Youth Council is based on the realisation that football’s stakeholders are changing, not only in terms of how they engage in football, but also in terms of the standard of service and breadth of product offering they expect from the FAI and its affiliates.
FAI General Manager, Noel Mooney said; "Football Federations of the Future and particularly the FAI must embrace the knowledge of all stakeholders to ensure football continues to grow. I believe our young leaders will be an excellent source to challenge how we operate both on a strategic level and in our day to day business, which will be good for the game."
The FAI will soon contact Clubs and Leagues to look for expressions of interest from Young Leaders to attend forums and discuss key issues involving young people including their views on how the Youth Council will best impact the FAI going forward.
