The final of the consolation competition for defeated quarter-finalists in the Collingwood Cup ended at 3-3 after Maynooth staged a late comeback to force an equaliser in time added on.

Two goals from James Woods had turned the game in favour of Trinity after an earlier Dylan Connolly goal cancelled out Callum Worfield’s opener for Maynooth.

After eleven attempts each full back Stephen Doran finally struck home the winning spot kick for an 8-7 win much to the delight of the Trinity fans.
