The FAI notes the Minister’s comments that €7million of this increased investment in Irish sport will be targeted at large-scale sports infrastructure and €2million for major sporting events. At a time when all Irish sport is coming to terms with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government’s commitment to Sport Ireland is appreciated.
Interim FAI CEO Gary Owens said: “We appreciate the announcement by Minister McGrath today and welcome this additional funding to Sport Ireland. Irish sport needs this support from Government now more than ever and this is a major boost for everyone in a sector which offers so much to Irish life.”
