Earlier this year, FAI Development Officers around the country volunteered their time in lockdown, collecting medicines from Boots pharmacies and delivering them to vulnerable patients in their area. The hugely successful programme began in mid-April and lasted over two months.
Over 20 different Boots stores around Ireland will be involved in the latest Programme, with the FAI Development Officers volunteering in their local areas delivering prescriptions to those most vulnerable in this, the second national lockdown.
Welcoming the return of the Boots Ireland initiative, FAI Head of Grassroots Ger McDermott said: “The initial programme with Boots Ireland and our Development Officers earlier this year was a huge success and a real boost to those who needed help in local communities all across Ireland. We are very proud of the impact this initiative made and we are delighted that the scheme is up and running again in the current Level 5 lockdown. I would like to thank Boots Ireland for the opportunity and all our participating Development Officers for their commitment to the programme and for the meaningful support they are offering to their communities in these difficult times.”
