Ireland in Pot Three for World Cup Draw

The draw will take place in Zurich, Switzerland on Monday, December 7 as Ireland will find out who they will face in their quest to reach the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.

The 55 UEFA member associations will be divided into ten groups – one half which will include five teams (groups A to E) and the other (groups F to J) consisting of six. If drawn into a six-team group, Ireland will face three World Cup qualifiers in March 2021 with the ten group winners guaranteed a spot at the finals tournament.

A further three spaces are available to European teams through the play-offs. The draw will be streamed live on fifa.com. 

Pot 1: Belgium, France, England, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands
Pot 2: Switzerland, Wales, Poland, Sweden, Austria, Ukraine, Serbia, Turkey, Slovakia, Romania
Pot 3: Russia, Hungary, Republic of Ireland, Czech Republic, Norway, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Scotland, Greece, Finland
Pot 4: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Israel, Belarus, Georgia, Luxembourg
Pot 5: Armenia, Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Latvia, Andorra
Pot 6: Malta, Moldova, Liechtenstein, Gibraltar, San Marino
