The former Wexford Youths manager only took up his new position last month and already has the opportunity to work with players in two games that will be held at the RSC in Waterford.

Even though it is a new group of players in his first squad, they will move on to Under-17 in the second part of this year and Elmes will undertake more assessment days to identify players for future squads.

"It is fantastic to have two games against England as they will be great tests and an opportunity for us, as a staff, to assess each of the players in our squad,” said Elmes.

"This will be my first time involved and it will be the same for the players, so we are all starting on this journey together. It is an exciting period and we are looking forward to getting on the pitch to start the hard work.

"We are very appreciative to the Government and Sport Ireland for allowing these games to take place as the country continues to battle with the COVID-19 virus. We have, and will continue to, following the advice of our medical staff and adhering to the Government protocols to ensure everyone remains safe.

"It is a bonus to have these games at the RSC in Waterford, which is a great venue that has a history of hosting international football. The players & staff are very much looking forward to these games.”
