With both sides through to the Elite Phase and focusing on qualifying for the finals in Azerbaijan in May, the two fixtures at the RSC will provide a strong runout for Tom Mohan's side.

"Although we haven't had the players together for five months we've spent a lot of time watching games, assessing players and also held a couple of sessions with players both here and in the UK to try and see as many players as we could," explained Mohan.

"These fixtures will be ideal preparation for the Elite Phase. The Swiss also qualified through their group and are a top class side so we'll get the sort of test we need.

"Although a few players were unavailable for us due to injuries and club commitments we've a strong squad here and they all have a chance to stake a claim for the Elite Phase.

"It's been good having the players back in. We trained this morning thanks to the help of Tramore AFC so we've had a chance to get the message across to the players about how we want them to play, with and without the ball and the transitions.

"These are two important games in our preparation and we will be looking to the players to produce performances and stake their claim for inclusion in the squad for the Elite Phase in Poland later in the month."

Ireland kick-off their Elite Phase against Serbia on March 28 in Pruszkow then meet Montenegro in Siedlce two days later before completing the group against Poland on April 2 in Pruszkow.
