A first half goal from Jayson Molumby put Ireland ahead but they conceded early in the second half and Mohan felt their second half display left room for improvement.
He will refresh the starting line-up for the second meeting between the sides at Waterford’s RSC tomorrow (12 noon kick-off).
“We’ve a lot of lads who didn’t play on Tuesday who we’ll feature on Thursday because that’s what this week is about, looking at people for the UEFA Elite Phase,” said Mohan.
“It was just a recovery session today and the players who didn’t start last night did a little bit more as we look to the second game. We’ll be making a lot of changes for tomorrow because the whole point is to look at players at this level.
“Switzerland were very good opposition and they showed that in the second half. I was very pleased with how our boys performed in the first half – we created a number of chances and on another day might have had three or four goals. In saying that the Swiss had some chances too so a draw was a far result.”
Mohan feels that this crop of players have the energy and qualities required to make an impact as they bid to qualify for the UEFA U17 Championships Finals for the second year running. They travel to Poland for the Elite Qualifying Round later this month.
“We’ve got a lot of energy in this team. They’re young lads who can play with a lot of intensity with and without the ball and I felt in periods in the first half and in the second half too we did create some chances,” he added.
“In the second half against the wind the Swiss put a high press on us and we probably struggled to get out. Games like this give you an opportunity to learn from that kind of experience.
“The goal they got I was disappointed with because their player was allowed run too far with the ball and got into the box before we get near challenging him. The main thing is to play good opposition because you learn a lot more about players in that situation.”
