REPUBLIC OF IRELAND FUTURES 0-2 BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
This squad is made up of players who have outstanding technical ability but have yet to reach full development physically.
Brighton began brightly and scored after 10 minutes and it took time for the Irish side to get into their stride as they played into a strong breeze.
Ireland's first change came in the 35th minute when Eoin Wall was unlucky not to score with a near post shot.
The Irish coaching staff made seven changes at half-time and in the second half the visitors produced an impressive display and several times came close to scoring through Wall, Sean Martin, Sean Hughes, Cian McAllister and Justin Croke.
Brighton scored very much against the run of play on the 56 minute with a long range effort to clinch the win but coach James Scott was pleased with how the Irish fared.
"Overall we were very happy with the game," he said. "It took our boys a while to get to the pace of the game but once they did they competed very well and with more composure in their finishing could have a couple of goals."
The Republic of Ireland Futures will meet Brentford FC's academy on Thursday at Hayes & Yeading FC (2pm).
