At the Association of Landscape Contractors of Ireland Annual Awards ceremony, the FAINTC won the Best Sportsground and a Special Award recognising its Design and Build Quality.
The ceremony, which was held at the Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast, was attended by over 150 people and recognised the excellent work done by FAI staff and contractor Clive Richardson Ltd, who work at the FAINTC on a daily basis.
Celebrating the design and quality of the facility on the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown, the awards recognise both the construction and maintenance of a facility that has become the official training base for Republic of Ireland teams.
"When we set about building this phase of the FAI National Training Centre, the intention was to provide a modern, fully-equipped home for Irish football and a training ground fit for our international teams. We have achieved that," said Richard Fahey, FAI Director of Club Licensing and Facility Development.
"In order to reach this stage, where the Training Centre is being recognised by industry experts and helped the Republic of Ireland team prepare for UEFA EURO 2016, it took a lot of vision from the FAI CEO, Board and Council Members, plus strategic funding from several interested parties.
"I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the design and building of the Training Centre, including our Consulting Engineers, Tobins, the staff at the National Sports Campus, and highlight the excellent work that continues to be done by Clive Richardson Ltd and their staff.
"The Training Centre is something that Irish football needed and it has proved to be amongst the very best."
Opened in August 2015, the FAINTC hosts six full-size pitches (five grass and one artificial), a goalkeeper training area, a modern Conference Centre, High Performance Gym and four dressing rooms.
The FAINTC has hosted Ireland teams of all age levels, visiting teams such as Manchester City, Leeds United and SSE Airtricity League clubs, as well as FAI Player Development Plan workshops and FAI Coach Education courses.
