Sixteen games took place at the Shannonside location - with some excellent sixty-minute clashes on display.
Last year's winners and perennial big-hitters, the Dublin and District Schoolboy League (DDSL) got off to the best possible start with a comfortable win over Clare.
First half goals from Malahide United's Val Abeedokun and St Joseph's Boys' Darragh Lynch put the result beyond doubt before St Kevin's Boys' Gavin O'Brien added the gloss in a three-nil victory for Garreth Dodrill's charges.
Last year's beaten finalists, Galway Schoolboy League, made a statement of intent as they defeated the WWEC by five goals to one.
It was a mixed day for the host county as the three Limerick sides had differing results.
The LDSL fell to a two-one defeat at the hands of the Athlone District Schoolboy/girl's League. The Limerick County side were beaten well by Wexford, while the Limerick Desmond League selection beat Carlow by two goals to nil.
Kerry and Drogheda stole the opening day, however - a clash that saw Ken Robinson's side beat the Boynesiders by five goals to two.
