Tom Mohan's side lost 2-0 in searing heat yesterday evening but overall the Irish head coach feels there is room for improvement in the second fixture.

"We played well in patches and hit the post after four minutes but when you look at it we had chances and didn't take them," he said.

"Hungary scored after a defensive error then they dropped off and while we dominated possession we didn't take our chances and got caught on the break and conceded a penalty for the second goal.

"The two goals conceded were mistakes which was disappointing but overall there were some good performances and some areas for improvement so we'll be looking to do that in this game.

"We need to be better in the final third. Having possession is one thing but we need to create more chances. It's a step up for the players to this level and playing a team like Hungary who are quick and athletic is a test. The heat was obviously difficult for some of the players who struggled and it took it out of them.

"The players who didn't play will be involved  tomorrow and there are quite a few players who were not with us this week who are also eligible for this age group so it's ultimately about being prepared for the qualifiers."
