
The funds were allocated to help fund a full-size all-weather pitch at the club which was officially opened by FAI Chief Executive John Delaney, President Tony Fitzgerald, senior international managers Martin O’Neill and Colin Bell along with Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed.
Wednesday’s visits began with a trip to Fermoy AFC where the FAI helped open the club’s Pats Noonan Academy.
It was also announced that Charlie McCarthy will be presented with a John Sherlock Services to Football Award at the 2019 AGM in Meath.
A large crowd welcomed their FAI to Watergrasshill United, where players of Cork City’s men’s, women’s and youth teams along with the Continental Tyres FAI Women’s Cup were all in attendance.
From there it was onto St. Mary’s AFC as they celebrate their 70th Anniversary. The club asked John Delaney and Tony Fitzgerald to unveil a memorial plaque to commemorate the occasion.
It was also announced the the Association will help fund the club’s plans to repair the all-weather pitch after damage caused by Storm Ophelia.
The FAI then made a quick visit to Grattan United, where it was announced the club will be given two sets of new goalposts.
From there it was on to Temple United, where a grant was given to upgrade the facilities at Temple Park.
Tony Fitzgerald officially opened the second pitch at Everton AFC, in the presence of former Everton players Cllr Thomas Moloney, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork, and Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire.
Ireland WNT internationals Amanda Budden and Amber Barrett visited Midleton FC alongside Ireland WNT Head Coach Colin Bell at the latest Family Fun Day as part of a FIFA Live Your Goals event.
Tomorrow sees the final Family Fun Day take part at the UCC Mardyke from 14:00, while the final PDP Workshop of the Festival of Football takes place for West Cork League clubs at the Clonakilty Sports Complex.
