The Ireland squad travelled to Mexico in the hope of causing an upset in a group that included the host nation, as well as England and Uruguay.
However, Mexico notched ahead with two first-half goals as they adapted well to the conditions and the energy-draining heat.
Ireland did pull a goal back through Boyle - a Donegal man, who starred for Bohemians in the National Amputee League this year - and that gave the team a lift.
However, Mexico added another goal and were able to hang on to collect an opening win in a tournament where they are one of the favourites to go all the way.
In the group's other game, England recorded a 5-0 victory over Uruguay. Ireland will now come up against England on Monday.
Also, Ireland player and EAFF General Secretary Simon Baker was elected as Secretary General of the World Amputee Football Federation during the WAFF congress.
