
The course, which is run by the FAI's Facilities Development Department, saw ground staff from around the country visit FAI Headquarters for the second year in a row.
Course tutor Richard Hayden of Hayden Turfcare Ltd. delivered the course to those in attendance and has a wealth of experience building and maintaining pitch worldwide. The aim of the course is upskill all SSE Airtricity League club ground staff to a higher level, ensuring better pitches around the country.
FAI Facilities Development Manager Walter Holleran said the course will lead to better playing surfaces throughout the country.
“We are delighted to be able to offer this free of charge course specifically designed for groundstaff at all SSE Airtricity League clubs. The aim of this unique course is to deliver some advice on how to improve pitch standards across the country and with the expertise of pitch consultant Richard Hayden of Hayden Turfcare who delivered the course we know the wealth of knowledge been provided will make a huge improvement going forward.
“We are working on developing a nationwide program where all grass-root clubs can learn market standards and improve their own facility going forward.”
