On a blustery day in Abbottstown, both teams dealt with conditions very well and put on a very good display with some outstanding performances from both sides especially from Evan Pearce with four goals and goals from Lido Lotefa with a goal and Kristian Crawford with a goal in the dying minute for Cabra.

Dundalk started the game really and were well in command in the first twenty minutes with Conor Fowler and Ciaran McCann well in control at the back and Marty Walsh proving a handful in the number nine role against the Cabra defence of Luke Ring and Gerard Black.

With two goals from Pierce and one from Lotefa before half time, Cabra started to take a hold on the game.

The second-half started with Dundalk putting pressure on the Cabra back four with Shane Hickey and Kyle Molloy impressing in midfield and it resulted with a well taken goal from Marty Walsh to make it 3-1. Cabra responded very well and came back into the game with an excellent performance in the second-half.

In a Munster Derby, Waterford defeated Limerick 1-0 in a Bobby Smith Cup tie at Waterford IT.

An evenly contested game in scrappy conditions, Waterford were first to test the goalkeeper through Regix Madika which Reece McNamara done well to keep out. The game never really got going in the first-half with lots of stoppages and a couple of robust challenges in which a couple were over jealous from Waterford players at times, left Limerick having to make a couple of early changes.

Limerick kept Waterford at bay making smart saves from Darragh Wall and Sean Roche and looked very difficult to beat. Midway through the second-half Waterford found the breakthrough from a good finish in a crowded box from Mike Nzongong and it proved enough to win the game. Credit to Limerick they were very spirited and organised and put Waterford under a little bit of pressure near the end. Adam Fitzgerald and Chris Raya impressing for the visitors and Caelin Rooney and Mike Nzongong providing some bright moments for the hosts.
