A 3-0 victory over Ukraine last Thursday gave Dave Bell's squad hope of making it out of Group 1 and clinching one of the two qualification spots in the next round as they target a place at next summer's finals in Belarus.

O'Callaghan, who provided two assists in the Ukraine win, revealed that while the team are upbeat about their start in Turkey, they are determined to keep working hard with two games still to play.

"The Ukraine game was our first competitive game as a team and it took us a few minutes to settle into the game, but when we did we passed the ball a lot better and brought a lot of patterns of play that we practiced in training into the game," said O'Callaghan.

Practice certainly made perfect for Ireland with O'Callaghan proving to be a prime example as the Peamount United ace - who is normally a defender - operated in the unfamiliar role of right wing.

Rather than fret about the switch, she embraced her new responsibilities even though she was kicking herself for narrowly missing two chances to add her name to the scoresheet alongside Lauren Kelly, Alex Kavanagh, and Leanne Kiernan.

"I felt that we could have got more goals as a team, but we showed great character in working hard in the heat and we've put ourselves in a great position to qualify for the next round," said O'Callaghan.

The next task to complete in that pursuit of qualification is overcoming Andorra on Saturday morning. Bell will undoubtedly have his players fully briefed on the opposition and O'Callaghan says that they won't be lacking in motivation.

"We were on a high after the Ukraine win, but our main focus is now on beating Andorra. We don't want to concede any goals in the three games and we want to top the group," she said.

"We won't be underestimating Andorra but we want to take them on and attack and score goals. We believe that we can top the group but we know that we have to work hard as a team to do that."
