Bus Éireann’s long running status as official transport partner to the FAI will conclude by mutual agreement on October 31st.
Thanking the company for their service to Irish teams over so many years, Interim CEO Gary Owens said: “Bus Éireann have been loyal partners to the FAI for many, many years. On behalf of everyone at the FAI who has worked with the company, may I thank them for their professionalism and service going all the way back to the 1990s.”
Eleanor Farrell, Chief Commercial Officer of Bus Éireann, said: “It has been a great source of pride for Bus Éireann and Expressway to carry Ireland’s national senior men’s team over the past 25 years. Our drivers and coaches have transported the players to matches that have made some incredible national memories such as the September 2001 win against the Netherlands which led to Ireland’s qualification for the 2002 World Cup, and the night in October 2015 that Ireland beat World Cup champions Germany 1-0 in the Aviva.
“It’s meant a lot to all of us at Bus Éireann, not least our previous sponsorship of the FAI’s Women’s National League. With current Covid pressures on resources, we are unable to continue to provide this service. We would like to thank the FAI for the wonderful memories and wish them and all the national teams every success in the coming years.”
