Founded in 1969, the club caters for over 280 players in the Roscrea environs from the True Blues Academy (U6 - U9) right up to Youths and Senior sides. Killavilla United have come along way in the past 15 years. From playing on a rented field on the old Dublin Road, they now call Villa Park in Timeighter home, where their facilities are second to none. The excellent Villa Park is situated on the Monastery Road between Roscrea and Shinrone.
The club moved to their new home at Timeighter in 2004. Killavilla United currently have two full size pitches, two 7 a side pitches, Astro turf and clubhouse. The main pitch and Astro Turf are floodlit. They have a very strong female participation in the club with over 80 members at all ages from the academy to Under 18. They are a current venue for Soccer Sisters and FAI Summer Camps which attract over 200 players. They are also a Centre of Excellence for the North Tipperary Schooldchildren's Football League (NTSFL).
Each summer they host the Roscrea Street League Finals. Since 2016, this initiative brought football to the different estates in Roscrea, brought the community together, and offered all children an environment where fun, football and new friendships flourished. Killlavilla United continue to support the Street Leagues and make their facilities available.
On the pitch they have seen a growing number of players, male and female, represent the league at interleague level, regional Centres of Excellence and gaining international recognition, with many young players continuing on the pathway to League of Ireland clubs. All underage sides compete in the North Tipperary Schoolchildrens Football League (NTSFL) with the Youths and Senior sides competing in the North Tipperary District League (NTDL) The club has won major honours at all age groups and always feature prominently in the National Competitions.
The current Committee have completely transformed the club in the past five years. All income earned goes straight back into improving every aspect of the club. The hard working committee have replaced all goalposts, upgraded all playing surfaces, refreshed the clubhouse, improved parking and lighting facilities and in the past 12 months have added a state of the art 5G training surface. Villa Park has become the best facility in North Tipperary with the ultimate aim to make the facility unrivalled country wide, for our children and generations to come
The club would like to recognise Shane Ryan for all his work in ensuring all Governance and structures are in place to enable the Club Mark award. They would also like to thank both the NTSFL, North Tipperary County Council and the FAI for all the support afforded to the club over the past number of years. In particular they would like to thank FAI RDO James Scott for his commitment to North Tipperary football and his continued dedication to Killavilla and all other clubs in the region.
