Founded in 1992, the club are based in the heart of Tipperary, and they have the biggest membership base of any organisation in the parish of Holycross Ballycahill.
The founding members of the club were Michael Maher, Tomas Ryan, Philip Ryan, Paul Fennessy, Alan Quinlan, Syl Shaw and Davy Browne.
The club rented playing fields from near Roadstone which were known as ‘Jurassic Park’, before moving to our permanent home of Glenbane Park in 2009.
Holycross have had the distinction of players playing in the League of Ireland: Tommy Teer with Waterford United, Katie Ryan and Sarah Foley with Kilkenny, Toby Lambe with Limerick FC and more recently Tony Maher with Waterford United.
They have always had a strong representation with NTSFL Squads at different age groups and some of these players have gone on to attend the regional centres at the University of Limerick.
One of the club’s biggest success stories to date has been the growth of the female side of the club. The NTSFL introduced girls’ football to their league in 2009 and since then the club has fielded teams from U10 right up to adult women.
Presently the club caters for players from U6 to junior, both male and female. They have a highly active committee, field committee, coaches’ group and fundraising committee. We are currently in the middle of our clubhouse completion as well as putting in a new state of the art sand-based pitch.
Over the course of the last few seasons, Holycross have gained promotion to the Premier Division twice, been finalists in a Tipperary Cup Final, won cup finals at U16 Boys and Youth Level, won plate final and shield semi-final with their ladies team, won League and Cup finals with girls at U12 Level and won a couple of Division 1 League Titles as well.
