Top Performer
Jack Byrne (Cambuur Leeuwarden)
The classy midfielder (pictured above) is starting to find his feet in the Netherlands after an injury disrupted the start of his loan spell from Manchester City. A goal in the 4-1 win away to Excelsior gives his team hope of moving out of the relegation zone, while his own development continues with the more big games that he plays.

Watch Out For
Ian Lawlor (Barnet)
Another Manchester City youngster sent out on loan to gain first-team experience, Lawlor was on the winning side as Barnet overcame Crawley Town on the weekend and he was very much part of that. The giant goalkeeper has been forced to be patient in his career, but he is now starting to stand out.

Irish Manager Monitor
In the Championship, Chris Hughton’s Brighton & Hove Albion saw their unbeaten run come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Middlesbrough, Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich Town narrowly lost 1-0 at home to Derby County, and Brian McDermott’s return as Reading boss resulted in a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers.

In League One, Sean O’Driscoll celebrated his first game in charge of Walsall with a 2-0 triumph at home to Port Vale. While in League Two, John Sheridan’s Newport County drew 2-2 with AFC Wimbledon despite holding a two-nil lead at half-time.

Further Afield
In Cyprus, Cillian Sheridan opened the scoring from the penalty spot as Omonia Nicosia claimed a 2-1 victory over Ethinkos Achna. In Australia, Roy O’Donovan played the full 90 minutes as Central Coast Mariners lost 1-0 to Brisbane Roar.
