Siobhan Killeen made it 2-0 to Shels on 17 minutes, the Red Panda’s having taken the lead two minutes earlier via an own goal.

McCabe bagged her first on 24 minutes before Jennifer Chambers pulled one back for Celtic on the half hour mark. Sinead Taylor, McCabe and Niamh Barnes made it 6-1 at half-time.

McCabe completed her hat-trick seven minutes after the restart with Noelle Murray and Sinead Taylor’s second seeing Shels win out 9-1.

Elsewhere, Galway WFC got their season off to a perfect start on Saturday night with a 2-1 win over Peamount United thanks to strikes early in both halves.

Just seven minutes had elapsed when Peamount goalkeeper Michelle Watson parried away a Lynsey McKey corner and Jenny Byrne pounced to score the opening goal.

The Peas were level two minutes before half-time, catching Galway on the counter, Amber Barrett blasting home after a solo run from just inside half way.

Continental Tyres Player of the Match Lisa Casserly grabbed what proved the winner for the vistiors, five minutes into the second half, riffling home after a scurry in the Peas box.

On Sunday afternoon, Stacey Paul and Maggie Duncliffe were both on target as Cork City WFC got off to a winning start away to Kilkenny United WFC.

The hosts took the lead after 17 minutes with Jenny Clifford becoming United’s first WNL goalscorer, finishing off Emier Fennell’s assist.

Stacey Paul’s free-kick levelled it for Cork on 55 minutes with Duncliffe tapping home after Kilkenny keeper Jenny Russell spilled Evelyn Daly’s cross two minutes later.

The tie between UCD Waves and Wexford Youths WAFC was postponed.

Paul Doolin discusses Ukraine tests for Ireland U19s

$

Head Coach Paul Doolin will be looking for his side to show similar character to that shown on Saturday when the sides drew at the same venue thanks to Danny Kane’s late equaliser.

Ireland had been reduced to ten men midway through that fixture when Dan Casey picked up a second booking so Doolin felt the overall performance was full of character.

“The first half we had some good passages of play without maybe threatening enough but they’re a very good side who’ve just come off the back of a six team tournament in Serbia,” he said.

“We’ve had two games which is impossible to do what you want to do at this level yet we performed well.

“I thought we deserved something from Saturday’s game and I felt in the second half we just shaded it. You’re disappointed to concede any goal from a set-piece and especially just before half-time when their player got across one of our defenders.

“On another day we could have folded but we were very good. Maybe the final ball could have been a bit better.

“We’re delighted to get to see the pitch in Limerick as we’ll play Scotland here in the qualifiers. We are looking forward to playing here and in Galway next month. The pitch is very good and now we’re used to the surroundings which will hopefully give us an edge next month.”

Ireland U19s v Ukraine Game 2.jpg

Ireland head coach Paul Doolin made a number of changes to the team that lined out on Saturday, with Dundalk’s Georgie Poynton carrying the captain’s armband.

The game again started slowly, with the first chance falling to Ireland – wearing white – past the quarter-hour when Frankie Mulhern’s cross from the left was met by Ryan Sweeney who glanced a header wide of the far post.

Then Ukraine fired their first shot as Vladimir Shepelev drove just wide from a central position on the edge of the box. On 26 minutes, Victor Tsygankov’s corner was flicked on by Alexsandr Masalov to Aleksey Chebetun at the back post but he headed off target.

On the half-hour, Tsygankov – who was also lively in the first friendly – tested Colin McCabe who held a clean strike well, and two minutes later the ‘keeper was glad to see the youngster’s 20-yard free-kick curl just past the upright.

Then Bohdan Mykhaylichenko hit a dipping effort which went over, before Ireland took the lead in stunning fashion on 35 minutes when Dan Casey unleashed an unstoppable drive from the right angle of the box to the far corner of the net.

Before the break, they could have been further ahead but Olamide Shodipo’s strike flew over the front post. Doolin then made five changes at half-time.

By the hour mark, Ukraine were ahead after quick-fire goals. They levelled on 56 minutes when Mykhaylichenko’s cross from the left was into the six-yard box where Aleksandr Gocylyok slid in and finished past McCabe.

In their next attack, they were ahead when Gocylyok turned provider from the far side, delivering the perfect cross for Denys Balanyuk to drill in from close range.

They almost increased their advantage on 64 minutes when Shepelev played in substitute Ilya Markovskiy on the left of the area but his strike hit the side-netting.

Ireland looked for a way back into the game and with 12 minutes remaining Ukraine had ‘keeper Andriy Marchuk to thank for keeping them in front as he got down well to turn Mulhern’s low shot around the post.

But that was as close as the Irish came to an equaliser, though Doolin and his squad are sure to be pleased with the two games as preparation for next month’s competitive action.

Republic of Ireland: Colin McCabe, Georgie Poynton (C) (Dylan Watts HT), Olamide Shodipo (Daire O’Connor HT), Connor Ellis (Trevor Clarke 68), Dan Casey, Frankie Mulhern, Jamie Aherne (Anto Breslin HT), Ryan Sweeney (Tom Cadman HT), Conor Masterson (Danny Kane HT), Robbie McCourt, Colm Deasy. Unused Subs: James Talbot (GK), Ethan Boyle, Connor Ronan.

Irish U21s look to continue winning run against Italy

.Noel King’s side have been in good form recently with three consecutive victories in their opening games home and away to Andorra and against Lithuania last week. Ireland also beat Qatar 4-1 in a friendly last month.

The Irish are aware that the Italians will be a step up in class tomorrow but the confidence is high.

Assistant coach Harry McCue believes the confidence built up over the course of the opening games in the group – without conceding a goal – and the Qatar game will stand the Irish in good stead against the Italians.

Gaetano Manachello of Atalanta came off the bench to score twice as Italy beat Slovenia 3-0 last week while defender Alessio Romagnoli has played six times for AC Milan this season after an impressive season with Sampdoria last term.

“This is going to be a real test for us. We’ve had four good wins recently but the opposition tomorrow is going to be completely different. We’ve done our homework on them. They’re a very efficient team with a lot of players playing in Serie A so it’s a great test for our lads,” said McCue.

“Italy appear to have a lot of players who are very comfortable on the ball. The centre-back Romagnoli plays for AC Milan every week, they have two good wide attacking players, the centre-forward Manachello scored twice after being left on the bench the last time.

“They’re not afraid to shoot from all distances so we’ll have to be alert to close them down. The Italians rate them as a really good side due to the amount of players playing Serie A and Serie B.

“It’s pleasing that we’re in good form but we’re very realistic about who we were playing too. Qatar was a useful exercise and help us get together early and be ready for the Andorra game. We did well against Lithuania last week but there are some very tough games ahead.

“We’ve been pleased with how we’ve been controlling the game. We had a dodgy spell in the second half against Lithuania but we got things together and added the third goal.

“We encourage them to play passing football but the opposition can dictate that. We’ve good ball-playing players and we like to play out from the back in the right situations.

“If we could go into the New Year with three or four more points from this fixture and Lithuania next month it would be a great start to the campaign.”

U21 v Italy.JPG

Noel King's side threw everything into this game and could consider themselves very unlucky not to take something from it. A draw was the least they deserved considering the visiting side created more of the chances.

The first real chance of the game fell to Ireland in the 16th minute when Jack Byrne worked out a shooting opportunity to fire in a curling effort from the edge of the box that was well saved by keeper Alessio Cragno .

Although Italy had plenty of possession Ireland were seldom troubled in the opening half and King's side threatened a goal one minute before the break when Alan Browne made a powerful run down the left but his low cross was cleared by the home defence.

Italy's first big opportunity came in the 57th minute when Federico Bernardeschi burst through on the Ireland goal but he dragged his strike well wide across the goal-face.

The home side finally made the breakthrough in the 67th minute when substitute Vittorio Parigini ran onto a ball over the top of the Irish defence before lifting the ball past the advancing Irish keeper Danny Rogers.

Two minute later the home wise were reduced to ten men when Danilo Cataldi was booked and Bernardeschi was dismissed after receiving a second yellow for dissent.

Ireland pressed hard to level and in the 71st minute Italy only half-cleared a free-kick and Josh Cullen fired a low volley narrowly wide.

Three minutes later a low cross by Callum O'Dowda worked its way to Sean Kavanagh but he fired wide across goal. It was a major chance for Ireland to equalise.

In the 83rd minute O'Dowda produced an impressive shot from distance which beat the home keeper but unfortunately for Ireland drifted narrowly wide.

Three minutes later O'Dowda cut through centre before sliding the ball to Irish sub Dylan Connoly but his side-footed effort was too high. It was another big opportunity.

Italy did have one last chance in the 90th minute but 18-year-old midfielder Rolando Mandragora shot wide from close range.

After this unfortunate opening loss for Ireland their next action is away to Lithuania on Friday ,November 13, and then home to Norway in a friendly at the RSC on Tuesday, November 17.

Hear the thoughts of coach Noel King here:

ITALY: Alessio Cragno, Andrea Conti, Nicola Murru, Daniele Rugani, Alessio Romagnoli, Rolando Mandragora, Danilo Cataldi, Gaetano Monachello (Luca Garritano 89), Alberto Cerri (Vittorio Parigini 61), Federico Bernardeschi, Kingsley Boateng (Davide Calabria 75).

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND: Daniel Rogers, Sean Long, Jack Connors, Darragh Lenihan, Glen Rea, Alan Browne, Callum O'Dowda, Josh Cullen    , Conor Wilkinson, Jack Byrne (Seán Maguire 86), Sean Kavanagh (Dylan Connolly 85).

Drawn in Group 1 for three Qualifying Round games, Ireland will meet Ukraine (Thursday, October 15), Andorra (Saturday, October 17), and Turkey (Tuesday, October 20) as they bid to take a step closer to next summer's finals in Belarus.

If Ireland can emerge from their group (the top two teams qualify) they will secure a place in the Elite Round and that is exactly what Bell wants to achieve in his first campaign as head coach.

"I think this is looking like one of the most difficult groups since I've been involved with this age group, but we're hoping that we can play well enough on Thursday to get a positive result," said Bell.

"If the girls can implement some of the things that we've worked on in training we should have a chance. But all I'm asking is for them to play as best as they can and to really push themselves.

"Ukraine in our first game is going to be a difficult task and if we can get over that hurdle then I would be quietly confident that we can qualify. But it's going to be a tough game so we have to be switched on for it."

Two members of the Ireland squad - Saoirse Noonan and Heather Payne - featured in last summer's UEFA WU17 Finals in Iceland and their knowledge of this level could be key in what should be difficult games.

Another important factor will be Bell's coaching because he is vastly experienced and leaves no stone unturned in his preparation - which was evident from his time assisting Dave Connell with the Women's Under 19 and U17 teams.

An opening win on Thursday would set the team up nicely for Saturday's clash with Andorra before taking on hosts Turkey next Tuesday.

The draw will take place in Nyon, Switzerland and O'Neill will be in attendance to discover who Ireland will be paired with following their third-place finish in Group D.

As an unseeded team, Ireland could face either Bosnia & Herzegovina, Ukraine, Sweden, or Hungary as they bid to secure a place at next summer's finals in France.

“We’re in the play-offs now and we’ll have to wait and see what the draw brings us. I’m not going to spend the days leading up to Sunday hoping for one team over another," said O'Neill.

“Each one of the four seeded teams will present a challenge, and the four unseeded teams also present a severe test for the top four.

“We're not concerned about whether we’re seeded or unseeded at this stage, and we’re confident to take on anyone.”

The UEFA 2016 European Championship play-off first legs will be played over 12/13/14 November, with the second legs taking place on 15/16/17 November.

Competing in Turkey, Bell's team had to withstand the searing afternoon heat and the quality of their opposition but they managed to do both and come out on top with a crucial win in Group 1.

Goals from Lauren Kelly, Alex Kavanagh, and Leanne Kiernan helped to secure the win, which gives Ireland an excellent chance of booking their place in the Elite Round and closer to next summer's finals in Belarus.

"It was a hard-earned result but we had more chances that we could have scored from. I think as the game went on the better we got and we scored three very good goals," said Bell.

"The first goal was a great header from Lauren Kelly, the second was an excellent free-kick by Alex Kavanagh, and the third was a solo effort from Leanne Kiernan. The girls worked really hard and deserved the win.

"Ukraine were a good footballing team and their game against Turkey will be a tight one, but I felt that we grew into the game more after a nervous first 10-15 minutes and I'm delighted for the girls.

"They will be tired after the game because it took a lot of them, so we will recover and prepare for the Andorra game before switching our focus to Turkey, who will be tough to beat but I feel that we have good enough players to beat them."

Swift counter attacking from Ireland allowed them to seize control against Ukraine just before half-time when Kelly headed in from Lauryn O'Callaghan's pass to make it 1-0.

Upon returning for the restart, Ireland continued to apply pressure and added to their advantage when Shelbourne Ladies FC ace Kavanagh superbly dispatched a free-kick on 68 minutes.

The scoring was complete when Kiernan fired in on 75 minutes just after substitute Lynn Craven had gone close with an effort and that proved to be enough for Bell's team to take the three points.

On Saturday, they will take on Andorra - who lost their opening match 5-0 to Turkey - before meeting the hosts next Tuesday as they target top spot in Group 1.

Both games take place on Saturday evening with Wexford Youths hosting Peamount United in Ferrycarrig Park and Shelbourne Ladies FC meeting Shelbourne U18 LFC at Morton Stadium.

The winners of the two games will make it through to the final at Aviva Stadium on Sunday, November 8, which is the showpiece event for women's domestic football and has proved to be a terrific occasion in recent years.

Wexford Youths manager Will Doyle will be motivating his players to do all that they can to reach the final as they attempt to maintain momentum from last season's Continental Tyres Women's National League triumph.

"We want to get to the Aviva Stadium. We're an ambitious club and that is the aim for us to get to the Cup final. We want to build on our success from last year," said Doyle.

Shelbourne Ladies boss Casey McQuillan has adopted a similar mindset as his club - newly formed following a merger with Raheny United - aim to get into a position to challenge for silverware early in the new season.

"Anything can happen on a given day, so it will just be about my team making all the right plays on the night," said McQuillan.

O'Callaghan focused on qualification with Ireland WU17s

A 3-0 victory over Ukraine last Thursday gave Dave Bell's squad hope of making it out of Group 1 and clinching one of the two qualification spots in the next round as they target a place at next summer's finals in Belarus.

O'Callaghan, who provided two assists in the Ukraine win, revealed that while the team are upbeat about their start in Turkey, they are determined to keep working hard with two games still to play.

"The Ukraine game was our first competitive game as a team and it took us a few minutes to settle into the game, but when we did we passed the ball a lot better and brought a lot of patterns of play that we practiced in training into the game," said O'Callaghan.

Practice certainly made perfect for Ireland with O'Callaghan proving to be a prime example as the Peamount United ace - who is normally a defender - operated in the unfamiliar role of right wing.

Rather than fret about the switch, she embraced her new responsibilities even though she was kicking herself for narrowly missing two chances to add her name to the scoresheet alongside Lauren Kelly, Alex Kavanagh, and Leanne Kiernan.

"I felt that we could have got more goals as a team, but we showed great character in working hard in the heat and we've put ourselves in a great position to qualify for the next round," said O'Callaghan.

The next task to complete in that pursuit of qualification is overcoming Andorra on Saturday morning. Bell will undoubtedly have his players fully briefed on the opposition and O'Callaghan says that they won't be lacking in motivation.

"We were on a high after the Ukraine win, but our main focus is now on beating Andorra. We don't want to concede any goals in the three games and we want to top the group," she said.

"We won't be underestimating Andorra but we want to take them on and attack and score goals. We believe that we can top the group but we know that we have to work hard as a team to do that."

Ireland WU17s record thrilling qualifying victory

$

Having overcome Ukraine 3-0 last Thursday, Dave Bell's team wanted to keep their momentum going and they did just that with a thrilling victory in Izmir to move to the top of Group 1.

First-half goals from Lauren Kelly and Heather Payne put Ireland in control before they began to dominate with Payne netting a second, while Lauren Homan, Saoirse Noonan, Tiegan Ruddy, and Leah Reybet-Degat were also on target.

"It was a very good win. We were disappointed to pick up three bookings, but we thoroughly deserved to win and it was another very good performance by the girls," said Bell.

"We've done what we had to do and win our two games so far. As well as scoring 10 goals, we haven't conceded yet either and that's very important because as good as we have been attacking we have also been very good defensively.

"It was always my intention to give as many girls a chance to play in the games and we managed to do that against Andorra. But we won't relax and think that everything is okay now because we have a big game against Turkey on Tuesday.

"We came here to top the group and that is what we want to do. We've had two very good wins and performances, but Turkey will be a really difficult game and we have to prepare for that."

The final Qualifying Round game against Turkey on Tuesday, October 20 (KO 13:30Irish Time) will be a tight affair because top spot in Group 1 is still up for grabs as both Turkey and Ukraine sit on three points behind Ireland.

Bell won't be taking anything for granted despite his team's excellent start to qualifying. He will simply be asking for a similar effort on top of fine-tuning certain aspects of their game-plan.

Still, he is full of praise for how his players have performed in difficult conditions and the win over Andorra means they can be confident going into their final game against Turkey.

Republic of Ireland: Lenehan; O'Callaghan, Burke, Farrelly, Green; Homan, Ruddy (Kavanagh 68), Craven; Reybet-Degat, Kelly (Noonan 56), Payne.

Andorra: Vazquez; Gallego, Marcelo, Veloso, Iban, Baro; San Juan (Dominguez 66), Cassi, A Correia, Marques (Azorin 79); Rovira (Lopez 72).

Referee: Nadezhda Belcheva (Bulgaria).

Wexford Youths into Continental Tyres WFAI Cup Final

The two teams booked their place in the showpiece event on Saturday night when they overcame Peamount United and Shelbourne U18 LFC respectively.

At Morton Stadium, Noelle Murray proved to be the difference for Shelbourne Ladies as she fired in a hat-trick, while Katie McCabe converted a penalty kick as Casey McQuillan's team secured a 4-0 win.

Shelbourne are a newly-formed team following a merger with Raheny United, who are the current holders of the competition, so McQuillan will be bringing some familiar faces back to the Aviva Stadium.

"It's a great achievement to get to the Cup final. The next win is the most important win - that's the way I look at it. We want to write the Shelbourne name on to the Cup," said McQuillan.

In the other semi-final, Continental Tyres Women's National League champions Wexford were ultimately too strong for Peamount as Claire O'Riordan scored a hat-trick in a 6-2 triumph at Ferrycarrig Park.

Aisling Frawley, Emma Hansberry, and Carol Breen were also on target for Will Doyle's side, while Emma Byrne and Lucy McCartan got on the scoresheet for Peamount.

"We're delighted to get through to the final. We had a job to do and we tricked all the boxes in doing it," said Doyle after their victory.

The Cup Final has proved to be a terrific occasion in recent years as it shares the bill with the Irish Daily FAI Cup Final and has been broadcast live on RTE2 in front of big crowds at the Aviva Stadium.

Wexford and Shelbourne will have WNL games to focus on over the coming weeks, but they can begin their preparations for the biggest day in women's domestic football following their respective semi-final wins.

The first leg will be played away in Bosnia-Herzegovina, while the second leg will take place in Aviva Stadium. Dates will be confirmed later today.

Martin O'Neill's team qualified for the play-offs after finishing third in Group D and they were unseeded for the draw which took place in Nyon, Switzerland on Sunday morning.

The first leg will take place in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday, November 13, while the second leg will be hosted in Aviva Stadium on Monday, November 16 - both games will kick off at 19:45.

Ireland manager O'Neill was present at the draw in Nyon, Switzerland on Sunday morning and gave his reaction after his team - who were unseeded - were drawn against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

"If there is any advantage to be had, then we have the second game at home in Dublin. But that said we need to perform out in Bosnia to make sure that the second game means something. That will not be easy but the draw is there and we have a chance," said O'Neill.

Ticket details for the home leg will be announced in due course.

Kelly excited for final qualifier with Ireland WU17s

It has been a case of so far, so good for Dave Bell's team as they sit top of Group 1 following victories over Ukraine and Andorra, but they know that there is still one big test ahead.

The two best teams will qualify for the Elite Round - and inch closer to next summer's finals in Belarus - and Kelly insists Ireland will be doing all that they can to ensure they make it through to the next stage.

"We're really happy to have won against Ukraine and Andorra, but we know that it will be a tough test against Turkey. We are top of the group and we want to finish on top," said Kelly.

"We were a little nervous at the start of our first game against Ukraine; it was our first competitive game together. But we got a goal before half-time and that settled us down and we started to pass the ball a lot better.

"I think we took that into the Andorra game and we played really well. I think the early goals have helped us, so hopefully we can score early against Turkey and stay together as a team."

As a team, Ireland have performed brilliantly with 10 goals scored and none conceded, but they know that there is still room for improvement and that is what they are concentrating on now.

For Kelly, it is simply a case of maintaining her good form with two goals in two games. The Peamount United striker admits to looking up to Stephanie Roche and wanting to establish herself in the Continental Tyres Women's National League.

Yet, Kelly's focus is locked on doing all that she can to help Ireland in their final game. If that means making runs off the ball or linking play then she is happy to do that - but if she can fire in another goal, she will certainly take aim at the target.

"Coming over here to Turkey, I knew that I needed to score because that is how you win games and, as a forward, that is how I can help the team in the best way," said Kelly.

"I hope that I can get another goal but it's all about the team winning against Turkey. We want to top the group, not concede any goals, and get the nine points. I want to help the team in any way that I can."

Bell will be without captain Saoirse Noonan due to suspension for the Turkey game but otherwise has a full roster to select from as his team hope to secure passage through to the Elite Round.

Green Shoots: Tracking Irish players abroad

Top Performer
Alan Judge (Brentford)
A return of two goals was the perfect way for Judge to send out a message that he wants to remain in the Republic of Ireland senior squad. While the tricky winger was involved in the last camp, he has yet to make his debut but that could change if he continues to stand out in the Championship and find the back of the net as he did against Rotherham United.

Watch Out For
Alan Browne (Preston North End)
Having scored for the Ireland Under 21’s recently, Browne will be high on confidence and he has every reason to be. The Cork native has excelled in the last two years for club and country, which is why Preston supporters are predicting a very bright future for the high-energy midfielder.

Irish Manager Monitor
In the Championship, Chris Hughton’s Brighton & Hove Albion won 2-1 away to Leeds United, Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich Town drew 0-0 with Huddersfield Town, and Lee Carsley’s Brentford claimed a 2-1 victory at home to Rotherham United.

In League Two, John Sheridan’s Newport County lost 1-0 at home to Portsmouth, while Joe Dunne – who is assistant manager – celebrated a 2-1 win with Cambridge United over Northampton Town.

Further Afield
In the Dutch Eredivisie, Jack Byrne came off the bench for Cambuur in their 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar. In Finland, Shane McFaul played the full game as KTP drew 1-1 away to VPS.

In the NASL, Colin Falvy started for Ottawa Fury in their 1-0 win over San Antonio Scorpions. In Cyprus, Cillian Sheridan came off the bench for Omonia Nicosia as they claimed a 1-0 victory away to Ermis.

Women’s Focus
In England’s, Grace Moloney featured for Reading Women as they overcame Aston Villa 3-2 to lift the WSL 2 title. There were title celebrations in Scotland too as Denise O’Sullivan and Clare Shine helped Glasgow City beat Aberdeen 3-1 as they claimed a ninth straight league title.

In Norway’s Toppserien, Emma Beckett and Emma Salomonsson started as Amazon Grimstad lost 3-0 away to Kolbotn. In Sweden’s Damallsvenskan, Louise Quinn was in the backline for Eskilstuna United as they beat Goteborg 2-0 but missed out on the title by a single point.

Green insists teamwork key for Ireland WU17s

ZoeGreen.jpg

Dave Bell's team are top of Group 1 courtesy of victories over Ukraine and Andorra and they are hoping to overcome their hosts in Izmir and secure a place in the Elite Round.

The long-term target is reaching next summer's finals tournament in Belarus but defender Zoe Green says that the team are firmly focused on their next game because they know how difficult it will be.

In order to come out of that game with the three points Green insists Ireland must rely on the chemistry that the squad has developed through their teamwork on and off the pitch.

"You need to have a well-bonded team so that everyone supports each other and it's not just one player on their own. We stick tight together and if someone isn't playing well we pick them up and help them," said Green.

"The Turkey game is going to be tough but we want to win it. We want to keep a clean sheet and we want to top the group and do it by sticking together."

Green, who plays her club football with Lagan Harps, has been buoyed by the presence of her family in Turkey for the games, but she feels that the most encouraging aspect of the past week has been the support of her team-mates.

It is that reason why Green is excited about Tuesday's game. She knows how hard the team has worked in training so it's all about heeding the advice of Bell and collecting a third straight win.

"It's important that we stay tight as a back five unit. We like to play out from the back too but we have to stay focused on defending, working together as a unit, and doing our best in our final game against Turkey," said Green.

"Dave (Bell) does a lot of work with us in training about movement and he encourages us as full-backs to push forward as much as possible to get up to support the forwards. We work hard in training and we want to bring that into the games.

"We want to give something back to Dave for all of his work with us and prove that we are good enough to play for Ireland at this level and put into practice what we worked on in training."
